Rear disc size + all mk4 calipers fit?

does the 4wd use a vented disc? is that why they cant be used? looking at it the caliper is much deeper than a standard one it looks as though it takes a thicker disc.

the discs are larger plus I'm pretty sure the caliper is a different shape

The 4wd rear calipers are not the same. The r32 setup I came across were vented. Im sure the 4 motion ones are vented too.

While your there its worth painting up everything. Change the metal lines now if they are rusty. Rear shelds and dust shield for the bearing.

I am pretty sure most vw calipers will fit on a mk 2 the passat ones look trhe same but check where the hose goes into it, i have a set of Audi A3 calipers which at a glance look the same however the hose goes on the opposite side and fouls the axle, must get my mk 4 ones fitted they are sat in the garage at the moment.
