mk2 16v

sounds like the 16v maybe has the common 'idle stabilisation valve' problem? or similar, its deffo down to fueling. I admit Mr 6' was helpful on with alot of diagonsis problems, but as said earlier there are others that have dared to venture under a bonnet of a vw!!!! Gambit, i find is helpfull with mk2 16v probs, give him a shout.

oh yeah as regards to under bonnet work, ermm therell be some stage by stage pics of my 16v stem seal repair soon, and also my mk4 20v head is coming off again!!!!! (still running at mo but orig head going back on!!)

when you say it turns off, do u mean it just die's?

or do the gradually rev's drop off after a certain length of time until it stalls.

if you gimme a better description of the prob i should be able to give you a better answer.

he reved it then as soon as he took foot off accelerator
the revs dropped then it juddered n died

but he told me sometimes it will run great
but i dunno how

tbh its sounds like it just needs properly setup, as this is the cause of most dodgy idle/bad tempered 16v's!!

u may have trouble getting an allen key long enough to adjust the CO%

alternativly take it to a local 3rd party specialist if you dont feel confident enough to do it yourself. should only cost ?25 to tuneup
