Ideally, you need to find some carriers from an old audi 80(think thats the 1) as the bolt spacig is the same as mk1 golf jetta caddy(75mm). mk2 gti carriers have a greater bolt spacing so they wont fit although you can use the calipers(256mm) with the audi carriers. There is adaptors out there to run G60 280mm brakes but you'll need minimum 15in wheels(ats cups wont fit either). I have the audi brake set up on my caddy using 256mm brembo disc's and pagid fast road pads, much improvement over stock.

There is a few people now resorting to fitting vauxhall brakes due to cheapness of the conversion.

You could just fit the larger 22mm M/C and servo from a mk2 gti/b3 passat and then just upgrade your pads to race spec types

I replaced all the pads, brake lines, fluid, rear brake shoes, drums an bled the whole thing properly and my MK1 brakes are great now.

Consider it before doing a full conversion.
