Fuel Leak !!!
« on: 27 May 2009, 22:34 »
Got home tonight and the woman tells me she can smell petrol form the car  so i  pop the bonnet and from what i could see no problems. took a look underneath the car and i've got fuel pissing out of the fuel filter  I've been told it's a ten minute job. i  had a go earlier and can't get the fuel connectors off. Any ideas?

IMPORTANT - You need to de-pressurise your fuel line before you disconnect anything!  Remove fuse 28, the start the car until it conks out.

The connections are a bit weird, but they do just click on and off once you get the hang of it.

Just pulling out the fuse and running the car until it conks out is sufficient, no need to faff with doors or the battery.  Trust me, I've done it :)

Ok still having trouble with these connectors surely there must be a tool to take these off? I feel like i'm gonna break them if I pull any harder!

You don't just pull them.  There's a bit that you push in at the side, then they just pull off easily.

If it's pissing out of the filter, depressurisation is already taking place.
