Extra pennies for oil.............
« on: 08 May 2009, 09:12 »
So there it is in front of you in the shop.

A well branded oil name

A less or / Don't no brand of oil

Obviously the branded is half as much again in £ than the not so.

Choices choices?...................You think........

Is the branded oil you get worth the extra pennies?

I bought 25 litres for £30 Renault Motrio 10w40, as far as I'm concerned my old girl burns it no matter what I put in, no point wasting money on the good stuff.

depends on what enigne you have and how you treat it.

if you have a stock 1600 and just plod around in it  any old oil will do.  if you have a tweeked up 16v or 20vt  and you rally the carp out of and do track days ect  you need a high quality oil else it will go bang

Yep, 100% true and Ecotek valves make your car faster.

That should have been posted in the Spotted DPB thread.

oils change massivly,   when you start working an engine you'll tell the diffearance

with cheep crap oil  the temps seem to run higher and when it gets hot oil pressure just disapears and it also ages a lot faster. on the other hand a top end premium oil will run cooler doing the same work,  oil pressure will stay till it's a hell of a lot hotter and it will stay in grade a lot lot longer.

the mid range random brands are the ones to watch    semi synthetic  means pritty much anything you want it to
