sorry for caps lock but:

IT IS SUPPOSED TO COME ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR, IT TESTS ITSELF, THEN GOES OFF WHEN IT FINDS THE SYSTEM IS OK. JUST THE SAME AS THE ALL OF THE OTHER DASH LIGHTS DO.

Jesus, guy has said that several times already!!!!!

RANT OVER

Spot on.

Thanks for all your replies. I think my original message was a bit confusing.

I know that the airbag warning light is supposed to come on, and then go off. And I know that if it stays on, that something is wrong with the airbag system.

All I needed to know is whether the light staying on is an MOT failure? If not, then I'll put it through its MOT and then worry about fixing the problem at a later date.

My car has been off the road for a year and half now with starting problems. I've fixed everything and just want to get it MOT'd as soon as possible.

Been looking around and looked at the vovsa site and MotTester and it is not tested -

AIRBAGS

Hi there. When I turn the ignition on my airbag light comes on but also stays on until I turn the engine off. The airbag light staying on, is this an M.O.T. failure? Thanks Neil
There are no checks at all on airbags as part of the MOT Test. MOTT.

As I said earlier, its not a fail because it isn't tested on the MOT

I would like to see the look on someones face when they crash your car into the wall to test to see if your airbags work!!

Cheers
