just remember to listen to the engine when its started, listen out for the timing chain as after 85k or so they need to be replaced and they cost an arm and a leg to replace. i dnt know the sound but my mate loves his vr6's, so he knows his vr stuff everytime he buys a vr he always listens for the timing chain and never has a problem with it. if it has been replace get the proof or just listen to it while its stationary dont rev it or anything. hope that helps a bit. after that stick a turbo charger on it  OOOH suite you sir! :smug:

The chains aren't always the problem.
The upper guide rail is quite weak and can break. Also lack of service means the hydraulic tensioner won't work properly.
When i had my vr6, i replaced the upper guide rail when i replaced the head gasket.
My mate has got it now, its done over 110k miles, and chain has never needed doing.
The trick is, listen on cold start for chain rattle, if there isn't any then you probably can leave it alone.
