Front Door Speaker Wiring - The How To!
« on: 02 May 2009, 15:59 »
Well I did it!
Was quite simple and easy really just time consuming stripping everything out of the way and putting it all back!

So here in words and pics is how I did it!

First job is to pull up the side panels - you dont need to take them right out just lift up.
Lift up rear seat squab to lift the rear section.

To take off the side kick panel here's how!
Then there is this thing under the accelerator!

This screw!

Then these screws holding the bonnet catch release.

And the one under

That panel now is free and access can be got behind it! No need to undo the bonnet release.
I then took off the door panel.
Also the panel under the steering column, just 4 screws so not a big deal.
I also undid the door stay but this turned out to be unnecessary and a pig to get back on!

This is the first hole I drilled!

I drilled a 4mm hole first then a 9mm
This is from the inside.

Then a hole in the door and threaded the cable through the flexi conduit stuff!
Have seen a lot of this kind of stuff around, it is also similar to fuel hose!

The finished pic!

Then put it all back together and start on the other side.

This was very similar except that the kick panel comes out easily!

Pic of the nearside finished.

sounds like alot of work for a small job.....
you could have just unscrewed the vw door conector and theres always spare room in there to drill through the white plastic and not having extra holes in ya bodywork .......

cant believe you drilled a hole in the metal len, all i did was drill a hole in the plastic connector, i did this by removing the big rubber boot, then all my wires are withing the rubber boot as factory spec, was much easier than having to drill the metal etc..

Well I'd love to see you do a write up with pics then kells coz I couldnt get to see how I could safely drill through that connector without being 100% certain I wouldnt drill into a wire the other side!
