headunit lights keep flashing?
« on: 08 August 2004, 00:38 »
My Sony headunit flashes when i turn the volume up. All the speakers are connected clean and perfectly.

The power is connected to the heater switch so im guessing thats the problem.
Was thinking of taking it direct off the battery with an in-line fuse.

Any other suggestions before i rewire the thing?

rewire it!
mine comes straight off the battery with no fuse. there's a fuse on all the headunits I'd had anyway.

ok i rewired it so that it runs off the battery and not from the ignition. Works much better now. Would this drain the battery overnight as i cant find my multimeter to check it?

My sterio face is never left on so im guessing its ok?

yeah should be. Why don't you wire it so it becomes live with the ignition on?

You should have two power cables on your head unit one will say battery, this is to be connected directly to te battery and there should be another one which says att this one should be connected to the ignition.  The battery cable will only use a small amount of power when swiched off this will keep all your settings saved on the head unit.  The att will operate the head unit when the ignition is swiched on and then more power will be drawn down the battery wire while the unit is in opperation
