Not being funny, but how long is a piece of string.
You'd be far better off saying "I have £x amount to spend on upgrading, where do I start".
You've asked an unanswereable question, because an 'upgrade' could consist of a replacement headunit (circa £500) or a full system costing £20k.

right this is what I would do....
Headunit-£340 (can get lower priced ones)
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-avhp3100dvd-p-7372.html
Fitting accessories- £80
Hertz Front Speakers- £200
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/7967.html
Fitting about £120
so total= £740

then if you want an amp
Amp= £150
Fitting about £50
so £200

that would get you a decent sounding set up
I would also consider a 8 or 10 inch sub
