Problems with Sony unit
« on: 29 July 2004, 14:08 »
Any ideas whats wrong?

I've just fitted an old sony radio cassette unit in my ladies car (swiped her CD player before her car is P/X'd).
Used a Sony 18 pin - ISO connector cable assembly to connect it up.

Only the eject mechanism is working, nothing else.
I've tried cleaning the contact points between the detachable face and the unit...........still nothing.

Appreciate any ideas whats up with it. cheers  :)

I'm guessing you already checked the wiring, Black to black/brown and swapping the yellow/red round.. Is there any power ie does it light up, is the eject electricronic or just an old push button???? If there is no power try checking the negative is definately connected. I was fitting an old stereo into a nissan before and took me ages. Eventually i realised the negative had to be earthed to bare metal, the black wire coming from dash was useless?? Only found this out by a little spark jumping and blowing a fuse... Could be something similar
