Question about headgasket

Hi,

Just a quick question- if a head gasket is done on a mk1 will it have to be re torqued up after X amount of miles?

i'm sure theres someone on here who could help u with that aka rubjonny he knows his stuff with the mk1's

a haynes manual could tell u if u have one (if u haven't my advise is buy one)

they come in very handy at times

or u could search it on google

no re-torquing is required on petrol engines :)

As above, only the diesels need retorquing, I would fit new bolts as well however.

No question about it....definitely new bolts as you stretch them on fitting.

technically on 8vs you can re-use them, its 16v ones that need binning, plus diesels. says so inthe bentley, but for the price of em I'd always buy new either way.

Also worth remembering to blow the headbolt holes out with an air line saves cracking the block.

or if you dont have a fully equipped just clean them out with a rag/tissue ;)
I also got an old bolt and cut 4 grooves down it, to create a makeshift tap :)
