First thoughts on new R32

I test drove an R32 with under 1k miles on it and then bought my one with 8k miles. The difference was unbelievable, 1k miles one felt dog slow compared to my one.  Mine seemed to still be getting quicker right up to 20k miles so it just takes a bit of time.

Apparently its the thing to do with modern engines.  Reduces oil useage once run in

Not according to the VW Owners Handbook it isn't and it is quiet specific about why you should run your car in for the first 1000 miles or so... i.e. your engine life will be shortened and fuel efficiency lowered if the engine isn't run in.  Its up to the owner of the car of course, but I know whose advice I'd trust given the choice between heeding the words of VW or online forum users.

Apparently a mate of a mate of mine allegedly said a bloke down the pub told him an old wise chinaman gave him some advice. It'll loosen up in time, and will last a whole lot longer if run in properly.

^^^^ you spend £20k on a prize possesion, im sure not only you will keep it clean and looking great, but same goes for the most expensive peice of it under the bonnet!!!. Look after it, the cars no good as an ornament with a blown engine!.

Follow the owners Handbook. Its for a reason. You choice if you wish to risk it, and go on people that havent followed the owners handbook at your own risk.    Too much to risk in my oppinion for no gain what so ever!.

Depending on how long you want to keep it, If you change cars often then it wont matter as if anything does go wrong then you have got the warrenty to fall back on. Regardless of how you drive they cant refuse to fix something, right?

Be ccareful of the  old bill if you do decide to drive it like you stole it though, dont want to be getting points now do we? or worse banned like me
