Ohhh a long time since i did this one. If i rember rightly, If you look in the boot of the car directally behind the door you will see two little claw like things stuck to the back of two plastic sticks that are attatched to the badge, If you take off the rubber claws you can pull the badge out, Then just slot in the new one and re-apply the claws.

The best way to take the GTI badge off is; get a flat headed screwdriver, cover the tip with cellotape - this will prevent damage to the paintwork.  Use it to prise off the badge.  To re-fix go to halfords and get some thin double sided sticky pad.  Comes in a roll.  The badge should have 2 clips on it which afix into the bodywork but put a few strips of tape on there as well.  Its very strong and will not mark the paint like superglue and others like it.  Hope this helps.
