Golden rule of building a fast car - start with a fast-ish car...  :cool:
amen to that.
Your better off buying something VW made, rather than trying to make something that exists.I was trying it with my old mk2 and i woke up and realised....

I bet DH is going to say yes i woke up but bought the wrong car or something along them lines.

Kharekatoh = car purchasing FAIL.

And to think you could have had a G2 16V.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

insurance for me is the same on the mk2 8v and mk3 8v, 16v. but the insurance on a mk2 16v was like the mk3 vr6 insurance!

if you can afford a mk2 1.8 8v why not get one of those as your next car?

considerably faster than a 1.4 mk3 and then you could turn that into your project and put a 20VT into that and 1) it will be cheaper an easier 2) a GTI is a MUCH better spec'd car as standard, to be honest even with a 20vt engine your mk3 is still poverty spec.

Id suggest you keep your 1.4 as a 1.4 find a mk2 or 3 gti and use that for a conversion but keep your mk3 until you are done.
