Stumped by this one ........ MK5 Head Unit Upgrade
« on: 12 February 2009, 21:50 »
Hi All,

Think i have had the day from hell today! Ordered a new Pioneer F900BT with wiring harness, facia adapter, usb ipod adaptor and aerial booster. Got into work this morning to be greeted by a big box, opened it up all excitedly and it was the F900BT and facia adaptor! Rung the supplier up and agreed that they would refund me the cost of the harness. But the other bits where on a seperate consignment and would be with me that day as well. Anyway got to lunch time and no bits. Went locally and after three trips got the missing parts.

Anyway pulled car apart and installed all the wiring, went to install the headunit in the cage and facia adapter and loan behold, it wouldn't fit. Another trip to local place and the right adapter was sourced. Anyway, i installed everything as should be according to the instructions but for some reason i cannot get the head unit to power down when the ignition is off and key is out!!! Bit of a problem as it will drain the battery. I haev tried everything and cannot work it out....

Please can anyone put me out of my misery!!!!

By they way if it helps i upgraded from the origional cd based VW Sat nav from 2005.

Thanks in Advance

Matt

hey dude,

im no expert but i will try to help as much as i can, some head units have the permanent live configered in opposite colours compared to vehicles, it happened to one of my old cars, all ya do is swap the polarity's over so if it were yellow to yellow and red to red then it would go yellow to red and vice versa.

im not too sure but it sound like the problem i had, give it a go but if im not correct dont shoot me

did you get a canbus iso adapter as if not this will be the reason it does not turn off as the mk5 golf needs a canbus to generate the ignition feed it also gives you the speed pulse and reverse wire and illumination
