leaking air con pipe

dealer says there is a hole in my air con pipe, will cost ?137 for the pipe plus the labour, can you guys shed any light on this ? the effect of it ? and a realistic price ?

what were the symptoms when this all came on

i have no idea, i think there is just a lack of thrust when u use the air con....but havent noticed yet

I would suggest that a local VW specialist or a air con engineer would be able to fix this cheaper than the stealer!

My climatronic system blows semi cold air out when on the lowest setting so I need to get my system re-gassed, VW wanted ?105 and a local re-fridgeration engineer would do it for about ?45.

The difference between the 2 is that VW will empty all the gas and dispose of it, where as the other guys will just top up the system.

I may be wrong but... doesn't the air-con gas show up in UV light(blacklight)?

If you hold a uv lamp in the engine bay the leaking gas should light up, revealing the leaky pipe...
