can somebody help me before i go insane.  i have a 8v mk2 gti and every slightest bump in
the road sets my windscreen washers off even when i turn the wheel full
lock there it goes over speed ramps etc, is there anything can be done?

Check your stalks, they can wear out at the base.  Give it a nudge at the base and see if it sets the washers off.  This used to happen to mine exept i'd get a plume of smoke off the steering column   

If its that then GSF and Eurocarparts do spares.  New ones solved the problem for me.

if you replace your stalk it will sort it out i had the same problem

Also check the relay for the wipes is secure.

neones from gsf are about £45 if its an mfa stalk. or go second hand for £5 llike me
