induction kit or standard airbox with K&N filter?
« on: 02 September 2008, 09:47 »

Hello,

When I bought my GTi 8v it had a pipercross induction kit fitted to it. I changed it back to a standard airbox and filter.

I kind of miss the noise a little but have noticed a difference in the drive of the car after removing the induction kit.

Just wondered what people run on theres and there thoughts on what is best?

Thanks.

i think modify standard airbox with panel filter..
or an enclosed induction kit with direct cold air feed..

Drilled and smoothed airbox with a decent panel filter is the best combo.

Okay cool,

What do you mean by smoothed airbox? I drilled my last one and had a cold air feed directly into the bottom of it on my caddy.

and I assume that a you mean some kind of heat cover around the cone filter when you say enclosed on the induction kit?

Smoothed = just use a file and some sand paper to remove any ridges or obstructions to clean airflow.

Enclosed is what you describe. Look up the BMC induction kits, they're the daddy!
