Gaz - the new DV valve has cured the problem.  If anything the gear changes are slightly smoother.  I'll post the pics on the forum tonight.

It was a pain but probably worth it in the end.

Hi chaps,
read all the replys on this subject and it seems i have the same prob. scince i bought the car 3 months ago ihave had a hissing noise increasing as i accelarate i thought this was the turbo spinning up but yesterday this noise is followed by a pshh when i change gear.
when the car is out of gear and rev the engine the noises are hardly noticeable, could anyone confirm its the DV before I shell out 90 quid
 cheers

check for split pipes. if you cant find any then its most likely your dv. its a sensible upgrade any way as they will usely let you down in the end.

Guys, I have added my pics of the DV installation to my gallery.  Let me know
what you think?

The total price for the DV was ?102

I've also contacted Motor Sports to let them know that the small vacuum pipe at the top of the valve doesnt fit the pipe from the car.  They're going to check this and get back to me.

Well ive done mine now aswell, was never gonna take me 10mins, it took me over an hour to get the left pipe off!! plenty of nicks an scratches a blister an 3hours later, i had it off!! (the valve that is) Replacing it with the new one is the easy bit! the top hose barely fits, but if ur carefull an dont keep taking it off an on, otherwise the ends just split, its just about ok. As for performance i think it is a lot smoother an seems to be a slightly faster pickup after a change of gear, BUT maybe its just me but i think i can still hear the noise!!!! but it does seem quiter. I think il look into the wastgate bit that had been mentioned in this link, can anyone advice me on where abouts it is an what to look for, is it just a case of locating an cleaning, or will it need replacing????   ???
Still very happy with myself for doing the job without losing my temper he he he ;D

Its all better now very shiny, but now the windows have gone again! and shocks are squeaking like mice!!aarrgghhh
