Yup that appears to be the upper part of my rattling culprit.

Can I ask if this photo was taken from underneath the car of from the engine bay?

Not quite sure how to hack it off as this was my original idea and I didn't get very far by using the cutting discs on a dremel. If anyone else has any other ideas then I am sure that both of us would be interested to hear.

That photo was taken from the engine bay, just looking behind the engine

Yup! That's my problem areas as well. I've tried hacking it from underneath when I had the car up on a hydraulic lifter so plenty of room to move about underneath but didn't get very far.

Can't really see another way around it - i guess that I will have to persevere and think of an alternative way to remove it and then cover the down pipe with heat wrap - should work ok. Although would like to hear from anyone who has actually managed to remove this blighter and their methods of doing it.

Mark.

Mattoligy - did you then leave it as it was? Or wrap it in Heat wrap? Not too sure I'd fancy leaving it.
