Adjusting gear selector mechanism
Notes:
The following points are essential to ensure correct selector adjustment:
◆ Perfect operation of selector mechanism, operating and relay elements.
◆ Light selector mechanism operation.
Also gearbox, clutch and clutch operating mechanism must be in perfect condition.
● Gearbox in neutral position.
‒ → Loosen clamp (arrow). Selector rod/gate lever connection must move freely.
‒ Pull cover off frame.
‒ → Insert gear stick jig.
‒ Jig must not stick.
‒ Align selector rod/gate lever (gearbox in neutral) and tighten clamp
Note:
Do not stress components.
Tightening torque

25 Nm
Functional check
● The gear stick lever must rest in the 3rd/4th gear plane with gearbox in neutral.
‒ Select all gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear catch.
Should a gear fail to engage smoothly after repeated selection, then continue as follows:
‒ Engage 1st gear.
‒ Remove play from selector mechanism by carefully pushing gear stick to the left.
● → Distance -a- must then be 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm.
‒ Should this not be the case, carry out fine adjustment with 1st gear selected =>Page 34-22.
Fine adjustment
● 1st gear selected.
‒ → Loosen clamp bolt -B-.
‒ Set to dimension -a- by turning the adjustment eccentric -A-.
‒ Tighten clamp bolt -B-.
‒ Clip gaiter into frame.
