iphone and pioneer DEH-P65BT
« on: 31 January 2008, 12:43 »
Does anybody know if the iphone works with the handsfree features of the Pioneer DEH-P65BT head unit? I have contacted Pioneer, but they replied saying that it's not on thier official list of compatible products, but some users have reported limited functionality. (They actually replied quoting the wrong head unit so I thought I would ask on here)

I'm not to fussed about being able to stream music across from phone to head unit, but wold like to retain the handsfree kit / BT headset the stereo offers. I just dont want to go and shell out £270 on a phone that wont work with my head unit?

Any body any ideas?

Cheers

I thought the iphone does NOT have bluetooth??? If thats the case, am afraid you have lost the use of any bluetooth functioning handsfree kits! Am sure apple have devised products in place for a handfree kit..mite b worth chekin out apple products or pay a visit to apple shop!

Unless i'v missed sumthin!?
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???

It's okay - I borrowed my boss's iphone this morning to test it and it does work (and yes the iphone does have bluetooth). I can get it connected and send / receive calls absolutely fine.

Pioneer dont hold much information about the compatibility of the iphone with their bluetooth products as of yet, but as there are 2 or 3 head units above my model, I would take a safe bet on them all working fine (if this is any use to people in the future!)

The only thing to note about using the iPhone with a bluetooth headunit is that the iPhone for some reason doesn't support stereo bluetooth.

While you may get iTunes streaming, it will be in good old fashioned mono, or so I have been told anyway

I wasn't too fused about audio streaming. Just wanted to make sure the handsfree kit worked really. The only problem I have found is that you cant bluetooth your contacts across to the headunit to sve them on there, but I'm sure an update t the iPhone will fix this soon enough.
