Hey, i have the same issue - kinda, my radio is permanently on, i was advised its because the live & switched live are the wrong way round, however iv looked and mine are definitely correct at the back of the radio so it must be some where else? Might be worth ya checking it out?

I just make sure i remove the facia and turn it off before i do so, bit of a pain but it does mean my battery is ok

No i have been doing that but it doesnt work for me

Gonna check the manual to see if i am in fact turning it off properly.

My dads got some guage thing that you link to the battery and it tells you how much the car is using when its not running. It was using up way more than it should so i took out the fusebos's radio fuse and the level went down to where it should so the radio defo is using up the power

Gonna look for the ignition cable in the morning so hopefully i'll get it sorted. Would be better if it came on with the ignition anyway!

EDIT: just looked in the manual and i have been turning it off properly. There is a section in the back about a function to save the battery with a note that says:

Quote
If the ignition switch in your vehicle doesn't have an ACC (accessory) possition, it is possible depending on the connection method that when Power Save is off, the unit will draw power from the battery.

So if i cannot find a wire that goes to the ignition tomorrow, i will turn this function on and use the meter thing and see if it does turn my head unit off and just enable this each time i leave my car unti i can wire it into the ignition properly.
