Im still having troubles with my girlfriends 1.6 Driver. To drive it feels like its sometimes running on 3. I replaced the spark plugs, dizzy and rotor arm 2 weeks ago. I checked the plugs today and they are black (the probes of the plugs) I have had a lot of very helpfull input from Rubjonny on this car and it looks like its the Pierburg carb causing these little flare ups! I checked the inlet flap on the airbox and it stays closed even when warm. I put a screw through the pipe to hold the flap at an angle to where warm air from the manifold can get to the carb and cold air can get in aswell, thought it would work..... i was wrong! On my little test drive for 1 mile all was ok, then had to do a 9 mile run a bit later and it started playing up again, jolting and a few backfires........... any ideas?
