Mk4 Golf Audio Problem...... Help!!!!
« on: 19 November 2007, 18:56 »
Hi People.

Got myself a 2001 Mk4 Golf. It has a cd player and 6 cd changer as standard. I removed this unit and fitted my new aftermarket cd player, got it working, no problem.
Jumped out of the car.......... and it would not lock using the key fob. Tried my spare key and nothing.
Couldn't find the fault, so i re-fitted the standard unit and then the central locking worked fine.

Anybody got any ideas? as i'm stumped

Rob.

ohh dear! thats a really strange one...im really sorry dude but i aint never heard of that, only thing i can suggest is a faulty headunit sending signals to the wrong places..that really shouldnt be happening

I've heard something about the so called 'K-Wire' possibly at fault or a 12v wire on the ISO lead needs to cut ??
I don't want to try anything unless someone in the know can confirm this...........

you need to remember that for power supply on after market head units...all you need is the black (ground) yellow (permanent live) and red (ignition live...if applicable) to power it up...if u have an electric lifting arial, then leav the blue cable that links from the head unit loom in place also but that sends signal out from the headunit the other way thinkin its lifting an arial or acting as a remote..if its sendin signal down the wrong route..it could have effects on your central locking..so if anything...rather than chopping into the original car looms which i never realy advise..pop to your local halfords n we sell VW ISO extension...this will elliminate any unnecessary cables of which arent required and if anything...you can chop into the unnecessary cables like teh orange (illumination) and blue (remote/antenna) to leav jus the compulsory ground and power supplies....sum cars have multiplex wiring that caters more for factory fitted radios that make it mor awkward for you to fit in an aftermarket unit but with the write wires n connectivity, it'l work rite as rain!
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???

You've definitely shorted your k-bus, or k-wire to earth or live.

Don't worry, it won't do any permanent damage - you just need to find out what's connected wrongly in the iso-block.  This is a very common cry for help!
