My E46 M3 was on 15,000 mile intervals or when the car flagged to be done.  That's pretty much long life on a much more stressed high reving motor than the Golf.  By the way it also had Castrol SLX.

If you are a big mile driver then I would also stick to the 10k service.  If you do 6K a year then surely you can benefit from extending the service interval a few months.

I'm scheduled onto longlife servicing. Mines just hit a year old, only done 5k miles.

The service indicator still says 600+ days or 15k miles, rang the stealers to check, they said not to worry as it will go up to max of 2yrs or 20k miles before a service!

The sensors in the oil will tell you when you DO need a service  :undecided:  ah well, means I can spend the extra pennies on mods instead  :smiley:
