no worries mate
everone has their own opinion ... tbh i dont want them to be chrome
wouldnt suit the car ... think black would look cool tho as it will contrast with my red brake drums

give them a good clean and try some very fine sand paper on them. May have little effect if chromed.
If you are going to use hammertie, which will stick to just about anything, use a quality brush.

I have done this on steel rims but never chrome so try a little bit first to see what it looks like.
