head gaskett gone????
« on: 20 February 2004, 20:08 »
If i let my water run low i find a bit of gunk on the cap, obviously i should just stop lettin it run low but the real worry is that i found a big lump of it on my pannel filter, near the in take????
The car never over heats and i have no other problems, any ideas???

Which cap, if is is the oil cap, maybe nothing to worry about. Condensated oil fumes can make a mess on the filter at this time of year.
Where is the water going is what I would be looking
at, it you had a big head gasket problem the oil in the sump will be contaminated. Does the car missfire when you first start it?.

Look for a external coolant leak as you should not loose coolant. A bit of "sneeze" on the air filter does'nt mean the engine is toast.

:) do you only use it for short journeys?? 'cause if it ain't getting time to warm up properly then you will get gunge where the condensation accumalates................... ;)
