Just to extend a little on the last reply. Jack the rear of the car so that the rear wheels are just off the road, garage floor or where ever you are doing it, and chock the front wheels. Remove the hand brake cover and release the hand brake. At the rear of the hand brake are the two brake cables. These are independant and are not linked in any way, so can be adjusted independantly. Apply the hand brake click by click and turn the rear wheels every time until one starts to get stiff. Then adjust the cable on the free wheel until it is the same. Work the hand brake a few times and test again. Both wheels should be locked at the same time by about 4 or 5 clicks. Don´t forget to tighten up the lock nuts on the ends of the cables and then return the car to normal.
If you run out of adjustment, then the cables are stretched and need replacement.
