My dealer warned me not to buy lots of options when I bought my 06 GTI as they don't make much difference at trade in - thank God I listened.   My only options were what I considered good value ones that either didn't cost much or enhanced the desirability of the car - Highline MFA, 18" Monza's, Autoglym (stupid decision - only worth it if I was to keep the car), front centre arm rest and diamond black paint - and thats it.

id say hold onto it creepy, before your know it the MARK 6 golf is out next year so all those edition 30's will be outa date also! digs at illyan

lol     I've got a feeling that the Mk5 will be a classic - like the Mk2 GTI -  and the Edition 30 will probably be considered like the 16v version of the Mk2.  The cost-cutting doesn't bode well for the Mk6 but I may be wrong... However, unless VW bring out a stripped hardcore GTI - do pigs fly? - it won't really impress me.  I reckon the Mk6 will be a Mk5+ - i.e. a facelift model - with inferior build quality.

me thinks your right illyan , i heard the same, cost-cutting and lots of it, if vw are gonna compete with its rivals , ie ford vauxhall, honda, they will never sell large volumes of car at way higher prices then the competition are doing currently

Fellas,
last November I traded my GTi in to my local dealer against my Edition 30, think its here now  I go and see it on Saturday am. My GTi was nearly 2 yrs old, 5 door met blue with 6 cd and centre armrest, 22,000 miles. I was given £15,500 for the car, so dont let them rip you off at the dealer make them have it mate or walk away .
