I'm back... arrived last night after a gruelling drive from Madrid to Poitiers via Bordeaux on saturday and from Poitiers to London then Ipswich via Versailles Palace/Paris on Sunday - Madrid to Ipswich in 36 hours! Total mileage for the whole trip was 4500 miles from 17th Dec to 7th Jan... the driving was ok although I think the drive over this weekend pushed me over the top - my bones are literally aching

Hope that you had a nice time. Three weeks really went fast.
Out of interest what was your average speed and MPG?

Not sure about average speed but I was doing between 95-130 on the motorways even when it was minus 3 in the Alps - chasing some UK 06 Plated Range Rover Sports on the edge of sheer drops! Just really tired at the moment - worsened by the fact that I had to drive from Ipswich to Wales the morning after I got back. I will be posting a lot of photos and info soon though.

Don't understand this but while I was driving around Europe I didn't really feel tired but now its been 3 days since I returned but have no energy and my bones/body still ache... probably just need a lot of rest... plus I'm a wimp so that doesn't help
By the way, the mpg hovered around 23mpg but I really had a very heavy right foot
Except when I almost ran out of petrol in South Spain en route to Gibraltar from Barcelona. The MFA was showing 0 miles of fuel left for about 10 miles and I was doing 45mph in 6th gear on the main motorway trying to make it to a service station because the surroundings looked something like a dodgy Mexcian countryside region - NOT a place where you'd want to run out of fuel
. The mpg on that occasion hovered around 37-38mpg.
I have to admit - I wished I was in a GTI at that point.
