http://www.iol.ie/~kilkennyhockey//BentleyManual/GE01/ch4.8.html
"Torque the bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lb.), in the sequence shown in Fig. 4-19. Repeat the sequence, torquing the bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lb.). Repeat the sequence a third time, tightening each bolt an additional 1/2 turn. Alternatively, this last step may be done as two 1/4 turns."
Look at link above for diagram, bolts have to be done in this sequence to ensure the head tight and level. Hope you have a good torque rench and some balls
the bolts feel like there gonna break each time you tighten them.
Hope this helps.
Knobby.

The 40-60Nm stages aren't too bad, the 180° stage after that can be a bit un-nerving but its vital you do that stage properly.

I thought i snapped one once, but it was my cheap "Bit" not the bolt that broke, Suggest using good quality tools.

Always use new gasket and head bolts.
The bolts have to be tightened in that sequence or the gasket will not seal properly.
