« on: 02 January 2007, 13:59 »
Well my mileometer and my trip computer has given up the ghost...Im not sure where the problem could lie...The trip computer lights up and switches fine but the MPG and everything else constantly stays the same.. And my milometer doesnt move at all....Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how i can fix it?

do you get any reading on the mfa or is it completely blank? it sounds like it maybe need replacing

the mileometer runs off the speedo cable or so i thought so if ur getting speed readings and they seem ok the internals of the mileometer may be buggered, the trip computer gets its readings using an air pipe which plugs into the back of the dash, and i think goes to the gearbox not 100% sure on that one. also the obvious thing is electrics fuse checking etc...

I get a reading but it seems stuck on the same reading if u get me? asif its froze.. there is power going to the mfa which tells me the fuse is fine..is there a battery behind the clocks? as some cars have lithium batterys behind the clocks which power the clocks sometimes they need replacing? ill check the cable from the milometer and trace it back, i need to change the dash bulbs anyway...going to be fun lol! any suggestions?

if you mean the numbers in the speedo, this is mechanically driven from the speedo cable.  If the spedo still works this means something has broken inside the dash, have a read of this:

the mfa gets a feed from a sensor screwed into the back of the speedo, if this isn't working the avg speed, trip counter and mpg display will not work correctly :)
