Got the new distributor fitted, came with a new arm & cap so no dismantling required (thank fook), though I had to hand my old one in for the bosch exchange service. After a bit of fiddling and changing the mounting position of the distributor I got it running, also changed the sparks, flushed the engine & got some fully synthetic oil in, changed the oil & fuel filters, reinstalled the fuel cut off valve & for good measure ordered a K&N panel

now running 10 times better than before...
