Alpine amp problems with wiring
« on: 22 November 2006, 14:50 »
Hi I've got a problem my alpine stereo its only got 2 rca pre outs, I've got two amps, one 2 channel and one 4 channel (driving 6x9 and sub) 2 channel is for my front set up. The 2 channel has some connections for speaker wires as well as the rca, if I use these is there a major loss of sound quaility. Thanks in advance.

There will be a loss in sound quality but to be fair I wont have thought it would make a huge difference. I would use the RCA's though as the amp amplifies everything so the cleaner the signal received by the amp the better the sound you hear will be.

Hm. I think the loss of sound quality would be too high. Alpine amps are pretty good quality, so it's pointless feeding them a poor signal.
I'd use an RCA splitter to feed your 4ch off one of your two preouts, that way the quality will be as high as possible.
Yes, we sell them at halfords :)

dont split 2 into 6!!!!!!!! 2 into 4 this must be done to bridge the amp, unless you want it to overheat.
