Sound quality of aftermarket Blaupunkt headunits?
« on: 23 August 2006, 18:20 »
Hope someone can answer this. What's the sound quality like of aftermarket Blaupunkts in the £200+ range?

Reason i ask is i think i've found the perfect headunit but want to make sure it doesn't sound like crap! Obviously it will be no Becker or Nakamichi but how do they fare against Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood etc?

The unit i'm looking at is the Memphis MP66. It's got a USB port that can use portable hard drives up to 80gb. I could fit my whole collection on that easily and it's loads cheaper than an ipod!

Cheers

Generally rated to be very good quality on a par say with Alpine i'd say.
Mystic Blue Mk3 16v + Black Mk5 Gti 05 plate + Peugeot 405 Mi16

I managed to check one out earlier and yeah, it sounded easily as good as the Alpines and Pioneers i also tested.

The 9857R is a really nice unit but the lack of a full speed ipod connection pisses me off, and the other two Alpines with full speed have no Biolite display! Well done Alpine...

I think i'll go for the Blau though, the fact that i could hook my whole music collection up to it is awesome.
