iam havin a bad day!...

just got outta work and my drivers side window will not go up its leccy,but then soon after i heard a ticking noise coming from the gearbox only when moving jumped out to have a look and there was a puddle of oil sitting under the gearbox!! :cry:so i dont know were to start??,the plate that covers the box has a nut missing from it though??i dont wat to do anyone got any ideas on wat to do next??all help appreciated

1st thing is get it up in the air and have a good look at the box, you're looking for any dirty great holes in the housing!

the diff pin has blown off into the gearbox,so iam gonna try and ally wled the box then weld the pin bak to the diff. :smiley:

good luck with that!  I think its going to have serious internal damage you should realy be looking for another box I'm afraid :(

Its a common problem, best bet is to get a new box and get the diff bolted on.

safer bet would be to take it to a gearbox specialist and let them advise on whats the best way forward.

some boxes are repairable. mine was but it didnt split the casing when the diff went

2nd hand box can be hit miss. although 8v boxes dont suffer the same failure rates as the 16v boxes
