Choices Choices Choices.
« on: 29 July 2006, 14:28 »
Basically I have a pretty decent amount of dosh to spend on some ICE for the ol' jaloppy but having little to no experience of this particular aspect of motoring I'm finding making my mind up to be incredibly hard to do.

What I want is a reasonable multi-channel amp, and some component speakers, decent wiring etc. What I don't want is a sub (at the moment) because I need to be able to use the car for 'normal' life   and I already have a reasonable headunit with an iPod interface so that's fine too. At the moment I'm forced to rock out through the piddley little OEM speakers in the front pockets and rear bootshelf mount areas. I want a solid sound that doesn't need to shatter the windows but equally will sound very nice up loud when I'm bombing down the motorway at high speed. I've also got some decent 6x9's from my old car sitting in the cupboard - although I've noticed many people don't rate using them in the traditional parcel shelf location.

Would it be possible for people to post their own audio setups, just so I can see what other people have got installed in their (preferably) MK 2 Golfs? Or alternatively get recommendations for similar gear to fit my requirements?

Infinity Reference 6x9's. Halfords have them at half price at the moment. [Yes, I did shop in Halfords. Just the once!]
Infinity 17cm Components.
Vibe 10" Sub/amp combo.
Nice wiring!

It's perfect I feel. The sub is great for the kind of music I listen to [mainly dance at the moment], & doesn't feel too bassy.

One thing-don't have 6x9s on your shelf with a sub below. Its stupid. Make an enclosure for your boot & put them all in it.

Currently in the process of doing this!
