Problem with Kenwood sub preouts
« on: 09 July 2006, 22:20 »
Okay, here goes.  I have just installed a JBL 12" sub and box with an amp in my boot.  I have the RCA cables connected to the REAR/SUBWOOFER  RCA connectors at the rear of my head unit (Kenwood KDC W6027).  Now, with music playing, all the frequencies from the BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE go to the amp.  My manual states that this preout is switchable from REAR (all frequencies transmit to amp) to SUBW (a pure signal is sent to the amp).  To get this menu, I have to have the unit in STANDBY mode (okay done that),  although it doesn't mention HOW to access the switching menu, I am assuming I press the MENU button.  I can't find the option to switch it at all.  Quite annoying having all the equalizer settings going to the amp as I'm sure it can't be too good for it.  Does anyone have any idea on how to get hold of this "what seems to be" hidden menu?  I dont fancy going through Kenwood.com to find an answer as I can guarantee hassle.

All is well.  I pressed the reset button and now I have about 4 more menu options.  Woohoo!
