Which part is the bump stop that is being talked about? is this the rubber bush at the top of the shocker assembly.

I think i need to remove the shocker to have a look.

When I changed my shocks, I overtightened the nut that holds the upper spring cup on, which crushed the tiny circlip that sits in the groove on the rod.This meant that the shock wasn't moving when the spring compressed, and it was knocking like a bastard- took me ages to work out what it was!

The bump stop sits on the shock absorber rod, its easy to check with it still on the car.
