**Bottom ENd Knock**

Hi ya ppl,basicly my bottom end is knocking,it only does it once its war, if you drive the car the oil pressure drops on it, could this be because of the oil jets on the conrod?? but basuicly i want to know wot i would have to do to get it running sweet again,ive heard you can just change the bottom shells,but that it will more than likely come back after 5k?is this correct, or will i have to replace top and bottom shells and get the crank all re-ground etc? how much would i be looking at do you think,
its beaking my heart at the momment coz ive just put a new head on it and on tick ova it runs like a brand new car, plz let me know, im curently driving a Pug 306 Diesel!! i need my golf

you only need to get the crank reground if its been scoured.

if its knocking then you need to get it dismantled and see where its knocking

in short - its gonna need a bottom end rebuild

ok then,how much roughly would a bottom end rebuild cost in parts, i get 10% on vw parts, and how many hours labour do you think?

Start with a set of Rings,  Head gasket,  sump set,  Big end and crank bearings,  crank seals,  reconditioned oil pump with oil and filter,  looking at about £150.00 parts and £250.00 labour conservatively.

you can always go for the cheap option saw dust,only kidding what about a replacement engine?may be cheaper.
