Hi got another problem with the golf  . I got in it this moring an the whole of the driver foot well is soaked through. I was like wht the hell. It has been raining all last night never had the problem before wht cud it be?

check your doors, if they're soggy at the bottom it's the membrane, bit fiddly to fit a new one, but pretty straightforward.
If they're relatively dry, it's probably your bulkhead somewhere - mine leaked through the speedo cable grommet some numpty f*wit put a loom through when he 'fitted' the alarm.

To dry it properly though, you'll have to get the carpet out.

Check the door drain holes at the bottom: should be three. Get some stiff wire and give them a good poking!
Sunroof fitted? Open and check the drain tubes: again a long piece of wire.
Under the bonnet look under the plastic scuttle where the bonnet release cable runs: make sure it's tightly sealed: silicon it well.
While under the scuttle make sure the drain holes for the scuttle are clear of dead leaves etc etc

Check the smell from the floor: it isn't antifreeze from a leaking heater matrix is it?

Ty for all your replys it was one of the drain holes clocked up wiv sh**t dont think it ever been cleaned at all. It was comming from the clutcg cable where is was leaking. My bf dad took all the crap out and a load of water fell out of the drain hole so was propper cloged hopefully sorted.
