has the bolt head snapped or the captive nut sheared from the chassis?

The bolt head i think. At the moment the subframe is welded to the chassis. Am i gonna have loads of trouble if its the captive nut?

If the sub frame bolt head has sheared there should be nothing holding the sub frame on as the bolt passes through the sub frame in to the floor pan....... so the head of the bolt holds the sub frame against the floor pan. if this is the problem then the sub frame can be lowered to exspose the remaining bolt thread which can be wound out with a set of MAC grips or similar......

if its a knacked captive nut i shall have a look on etos or elsawin to see what they can tell me.

if its the captive nut then you need to get the captive nut rewelded to the chassis. i had to get this done on my old 16v - only cost about £40 if i remember rightly - though i dont exactly know how they done it. i assume it involves cutting a hole somewhere in order to get access to the nut - or maybe there is a bug somewhere that allows access to it
