mk3 engine swop

How easy :smiley: or hard  :sad: would it be to put a vr6 engine in my mk3 gti 8 valve does anybody know I been offered 1 from a corrado thats been rear ended and as my engines dead I figured it might be wirth lookin into

it'll drop in, but you'll need the usual conversion stuff... gearbox, ecu, loom, clocks?

Oh, and uprated front springs, a set of second hand front struts off a VR6 would do nicely.

should be easy as they made a vr6 golf so plenty of parts available. anything you cant get off the 'raddo can be found in a scrappy if your lucky. definately need brakes and shocks to take the extra weight!

aren't the mk3 8v brakes the same as the VR6 ones anyway? 288mm?

the boys at DUBusiness up the road from me are doing this conversion. they had a VR6 vento which they removed all the bits needed.

The VR6 gearbox is cable whereas the 8v is rod. simple to convert though.
