Headlights FUBAR - HELP!!!!
« on: 05 February 2006, 19:39 »
Please, please, please can someone help me out?!?!?

My headlights have suddenly stopped working completely. I've got Fogs/Sides/Rear/Full Beam etc, but for some reason BOTH dipped headlights have stopped working. I've checked the bulbs - these are fine and everything else electrical seems to work (touch wood). What's the heck's going on?

I'm in dire need of a car next week and if I can't drive it in the dark, I'm stuffed.

Any ideas?

I'll go check the fuses now - stupidly I haven't got any bulbs. Would they both go at exactly the same time?

God I'm pathetic. Can't even get the fusebox cover off to have a look. I've pushed the two buttons in, but don't know which way to pull the cover. It doesn't seem to want to budge and I don't want to break it.

OK - I've got the fuse box off. They're fine - I've checked them with a meter. Also, I've checked the bulbs - they're fine too.

I had an immobiliser fitted today and I hadn't tested the lights out until tonight. Could they have done something dodgy? Could the headlamp switch be knackered? Where can I get a new one quick?

i had similar prob with mine turned out it was just dodgy connections on the back of bulb, all i done was clean conections and wd40 them and they have been ok since.

but it might be worth contacting people who done ur immobiliser and mentioning it:)

Hello people.

Sorted!!!

Thought I should mention this in case anyone else gets caught out, but apparently this is quite common. To fit the immobiliser the fitters have to fart around with the connections to the fuse box. Anyway, I took it back and they fixed it in half an hour.

Moral: IF YOU GET ANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AFTER HAVING AN IMMOBILISER FITTED - TAKE IT STRAIGHT BACK.
