is this the small steering wheel fitment, cos i've done the allen key bolt on the left side and the lock unit doesnt want to slide up, if it isnt then that explains it and i'll guess i'll have to undo the bolts at the joint

Thats the large spline adaptor on the end of the column, you have to remove this first or drop the column as said!

cheers, switch fitted all seems running fine.
it really is a 35 min job
now just need to find out why my mk3 isnt running and i'll be a happy man
