Suspension advice coding and alignment
« on: 09 May 2023, 18:34 »
Hi all.
Recently acquired a mark 7 performance car with approx 75k on it.
It drives well and really is a great all rounder.
Now I have searched and various different views and opinions on peoples own experiences on suspension in various forums….and I’m non the wiser.
So the car it does 5 days a week commuting
We’re after a jack of all trades from the suspension if possible.
We do couple of trips a year to the Ring and 2/4 days in the uk with Spa every other year.
So I’m after girls guys of your open experiences please.
What have you used stock strut or all out coilover kits ?
Can we upgrade the anti roll bars and use clubsport hubs to get more castor
Can we use a different top mount with stock dampers to get more camber ?
Don’t want mad crazy camber either…
Can any give us your own personal experiences please.
And lastly anyone in the Kent area that can do alignment that’s trustworthy and knows how to use the alignment machine.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Thats a lot of questions for a first post! You say the car will be used for 5 day commuting but you also want it track ready? my honest answer would be to keep it stock for commuting but try using the search feature in the forum where there are plenty of threads on suspension upgrades, coilovers etc. Doees your gti have adaptive dampers?(just another thing to keep in mind) . See below threads which may be of interest.
