Hey All

Had a call from my dealer and the whole service plan is up for renewal and they're doing the all inclusive hustle (excluding brake fluid). Seems the prices are going up after 1/April so renewing before means VWFS will honour the 22/23 pricing. Mentioning if useful to anyone in a similar position.

Good shout on mentioning the price increase in April, mine's not due to finish until May, so paid it off and should get a new one Monday.

If you switch from dealer servicing will this not invalidate the 12 year corrosion warranty. Not sure about VW but was certainly the case with Ford. A friend had serious corrosion on an 8yo Ka and because she had switched to indie servicing after 5 years Ford said “no”. That mistake cost her more than years of the indie saving could ever make up for.
I work on basis that dealer servicing is worth the stamp, espec if eventually selling or P/X back into VAG.

Each to their own. Odd for a modern 8 year old car to have serious corrosion. Warranty’s on bodywork usually only cover rot from within. Wife’s current Polo is 12 years old this year with zero rot and her (ex) 21 year old Golf is still on the road (I went on MOT check yesterday out of curiosity)

I generally keep cars for long periods so a dealer service stamp is worth a lot less than a big pile of invoices showing fastidious servicing come sale time.

Warranty for paintwork depends on your local dealer, I had a 3 year old polo and my closest VW wanted £600 to blow in the door sill beside the weather stripping, went to the dealer I use now and was told when do you want it done and here's a courtesy car for free.

Used them ever since.

Just a follow up regarding the service plans, they’re going up in price and are going to remove the brake fluid change and mot check from it as well. Got my new one activated this morning

My dealer excluded the brake fluid change previously. Is this the VWFS administered policy?

I’ve not had a VW service plan that included a brake fluid change since I bought my mk6 Golf GTD back in 2011 (it was also a three year service plan back then). Since then, I’ve always had to pay for brake fluid changes as a separate chargeable item that falls outside the service plan.

This was a Agnews Volkswagen Belfast policy, the often advertise it a free add on and I’m guessing are continuing it until the new price increase.

Same as me. I just saw Will's comment and reacted to it for that very reason. They will price match the MOT so think they start at £55. They price matched to Halfords at £30 without quibble last year.

The mot is probably why we get the brake fluid change, as our mot’s are carried out at government run facilities, so they can’t actually perform it which is also the reason my car has no mot until June (expired January)

So we get an mot check and brake fluid change instead of an actual mot .
