Maybe that’s because you only wash yours twice a year Watts?

Hertsman, that car could well be out there given a decent budget and patient wait.
After some of the horror stories on here I’d be scared of having one with a sunroof but aside from that the spec sounds extremely desirable and ironically would cost about the same now as the buyer might have paid new three or four years ago!
With R’s you’ll know 7 out of 10 will have been hammered, 2/10 will have been used and treated fairly normally and that remaining 10% will have been cherished. The nice ones are out there..
I’d quite happily move back to a bong free existence with a mint low spec 7.5R or TCR myself. I’d miss that steering wheel though 😁

Absolutely, will not be jumping at any, and do not have to, have as much time as need, so it will be a diligent search and there will have to be a lot of the mandatory boxes to service history, how many owners etc, to tick before pull any trigger, but any used car sale does have an element of risk, but I will be searching out the enthusiast cared for as much as is possible.

Good call on the sunroof, as never had one, never even thought to the issues, but just looked at the threads on subject and might be something actually save myself from also, along with the oryx as trust the comments on here implicitly with regards the pitfalls, as my aim is always to jump into a car and just enjoy it, and not have to battle with some of the knowns if avoidable.

Have seen the prices start to settle, not by much, couple of thousand, but the signs are there and hope in 12 months that will be just that little bit more as more new cars replace existing and forecourts start to fill.

My GTI TCR is up for sale at Northampton VW for £31999, it was £37510 3 1/2 years ago. It was offered to me for £29000 with 6 months warranty by lease company.

Did notice they state they replaced the front brake discs which found really strange as was only VW serviced and MOT a few weeks before went back without any comment, so not sure what that was about, as said, strange

Now you convinced me to have a heated steering wheel, going to miss it now, wish never listened to that advice

No regrets now on passing up on the TCR at £29k?
I guess you could invest another £3k in it and get an extra 18 months warranty and new brakes thrown in!
VW workshops can be strange as regards the brakes, I bet the discs weren’t cheap either.

Surprised myself, not even a slither of regret, with a daughter getting married this year and a bunch of other things, it was easy not to justify £29000 on what would have been second car duties, and so we spent just £2000 changing the 2nd car from the Audi to the GTI which we are extremely happy with as a decision.

Also, think its been good to drive something over the fence for a while and go back, as think will have a new found appreciation for the Golf, as having been in one for 9 years, was definitely becoming a little complacent and desensitised to the experience and to pay £29000 to just continue to drive my dirty TCR maybe would have been quite a flat experience.

The brake disc change is so strange as would not consider myself mad on the brakes, and not even a flicker of a mention at MOT or Service at same time, but hey, doubt that cheap and maybe why the price is at the top end of £31999

I would expect to pay about £29000 - £30000 for one now,

I am hoping market settles in next 12 months, just that shade more, and could get a late MK 7.5 R in the £25,000 range, maybe optimistic, but its not beyond also. Will not be paying for company car then so monies is much more justifiable.

I could go new and make payments, but admit its just the principle of paying near £50k that completely halts me, as would the experience be double that of a £25000 R? Not for me.
